Lowndes County Port
The Lowndes County Port is located at RM 330.0 near Columbus on both the east and west banks of the Tenn-Tom Waterway.
The initial port development is located on a section of the natural river that was cut off in the straightening of the main channel, and includes general cargo operations, dry and liquid bulk operations, both inside and outside storage for cargoes in transit, and industrial sites.
The steel dock on the west bank consists of a two-barge notch adjacent to the channel and is used primarily to move essential raw materials to Steel Dynamics, Inc., formerly Severstal.
